History

The long established name of ‘Amber’ is synonymous with Andy Chung who pioneered the introduction of classical Chinese Cuisine to the City of Glasgow.

Mr Chung started the first ‘Amber’ Restaurant over 40 years ago on Byres Road. He has since gained a strong reputation for undeniable quality and service and is now established in a convenient City Centre location on West Regent Street, hence the name Amber Regent.

It is in these surroundings he dispense his culinary art and skills to all diners who appreciate sumptuous meals and unrivalled standards of excellence.

Local patrons from all over the world remember Amber Regent’s culinary reputation and many find time to visit when next in town. Frequent visitors have learned to trust the restaurant and leave the choice of food to the manageresses Christina and Angie Chung, or our Head Chef who has travelled the world in search of new culinary delights.

Culinary specialists in Cantonese cuisine, Amber Regent is widely renowned for using the best quality seafood and shellfish on the market. Creating mouthwatering dishes that keep people coming back time and again. Some of our guests have been visiting the restaurant for almost three decades and we always strive to meet their high expectations.

As we enter an exciting new chapter, having undergone a full refurbishment in August 2017, we look forward to welcoming many old and new faces to our much loved restaurant. Whether it’s a banquet in our new private dining room, a romantic evening with your other half, or a quiet cocktail in our bar – you’ll be sure to receive a warm welcome from the team at Amber Regent.

We look forward to seeing you soon.
